“God loves us to life”

Article for May 12, 2024

1 John 5:9–10 9If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son.

We do receive the testimony of men and it is gotten to the point of who do we trust.  We get slurs, complaints, and prejudice, false hope, false idols, and false mentoring.  It is our world fighting against itself and neither side is for us but only for itself.  Hate is practiced throughout the world, in fact hate is ruling the world.  This is the word and testimony of men that we hate one another.

The testimony of God is greater, and the world knows this, and the world hates this.  Like all our politicians the world sins and lies about those who follow Jesus Christ.  The world takes what it is doing and blames the followers of Christ for it.  And many hear this testimony of the world and start to believe it.  The world is not for us but against us.

Why do many follow the world that promotes death and hate?  It’s all about fitting into the world and being accepted by our peers.  We see a world so marred up with false markings of hope and see people grasping onto antichrist ways to live.  Many are looking for a way to fit in because the world teaches them, they’re not good enough.  People are confused as to what they were born to be and know not the truth of who they are.

We see commercials that advertise a means to become who you really are or who you were meant to be.  We lost sight of God’s plan for us and who He meant us to be.  We lost site because we are forced by this world to be lost and given the wrong direction that takes us nowhere.

John 17:11b–12 [Jesus said:] “Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. 12While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

Sin is calling us, and sin is calling us to be lost and hopeless.  Sin wants us to hate one another, and worship false gods.  Sin wants us to be lost and struggling to find a false reasoning toward a false way.

Sin wants us to think God made a mistake when He made us, and that we were born that way.  Whatever that way is to you.  But listen, Jesus is calling us to be the children of God.  Jesus is calling us to show us that we are important to our Father in heaven who made us to be who we really are -men and women.  We have no reason to be ashamed of who God made us to be -men and women. God made us to be men and women, to worship and love God, and to love one another and to help build the true kingdom of God on earth and in heaven.

This is keeping in God’s name that we keep in His will, that we love Him, and that we love one another.  Realize that God’s will is not a weight on our shoulders but a love that lifts all burdens from our hearts.

John 17:13 13But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

We are duped every day by the world, and we look for the acceptance of mankind rather than the acceptance of God.  Is it because we cannot see God, or that we do not know when He has disciplined us?  I guess if you do not know you’re being disciplined then you do not know to fear it.  I’m afraid that will change very soon, and we will feel the discipline of God greatly.

Jesus prays for us to have joy and tells us our joy fulfills His joy.  Why do we fight against the one who wants us to be happy?  Why do we look for false and temporary happiness?  Mankind could care anything about you, but God cares so much for us that Jesus died so we could live forever.

John 17:14–15 14I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.

There is a reason that God gave us His word though not just the Holy Bible but also through His Word Jesus Christ.  That reason is to show His love for us and a means to hope for our love for Him.  The world will hate us who follow Jesus, but we have the love of God that is greater and leads to eternal joy.  The World’s love is shallow, but God’s word is meaningful and everlasting.

If God is love, then why not love God himself and sing praises and thanks to Him every day. God’s word is greater than men’s because God’s word is always truthful.  God’s word tells us of Him who sent His only begotten Son to baptize us into the family of God the Father.  God’s word speaks to us of His love even in the form of dying in our place for our sins.

John 17:16–19 16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.”

The Truth is, Jesus Christ our Lord who died for our sins and was resurrected for our newness of life.  This means God loves us to LIFE.  Amen.
